Albert one is a legendary astist with a prominent deep voice, performing in the Italo disco style. His real name is Alberto Carpani. Artist's colleagues and fans gave Albert the nickname "Big Alberto", hinting at his big build. ALberton's Italo colleagues and friends, one of whom has long been his fellow compatriot Paul Mazzolini (Gazebo), consider Big Alberto a very kind-hearted and easy person.
ALbert one's first hit was a super polular single - Turbo Diesel, released in 1984 at Baby Records (BABY 54043) and produced by two geniuses of Italo Disco - R. Turatti and M. Chieregato, responsible for the success of such performers, as Den Harrow, Eddy Huntington, Tom Hooker et cetera. Fred Ventura was also involved in the production of this hit. In 1985 the same authors at the same label, with the participation of J. Hilleren, issued another single - Lady O, lately released by Ariola. Another work by the R. Turatti / M. Cheregato duo was Heart on Fire (1986). Later Albert one began working with another famous Italo duo: M. Farina / G. Crivellente at the legendary disco star factory - Time Records. The singles of that period - Secrets and For Your Love - were recorded with the immediate authorship of ALberto Carpani himself and later remixed and enjoyed great success among the fans of the high-energy disco. The artist became easily recognized owing to his powerful voice and a special energetic music style. Later Albert one worked at a different record labels and, with various co-authors, made a few other songs. In 1988 he released his long-awaited album "Everybody" at ZYX, which, unfortunately to notice, did not include his first and most successful hits. Though, later ZYX released all most important compositions on the CD "The Best of Albert one" (ZYX 20469-2). However, this CD also caused a lot of chriticism from Italo disco fans for a number of reasons (questionable order of titles, presence of some not very successful versions of his singles). Unfortunately, most of the ZYX disco star compilations, re-issued in the 90's, are distinguished by such a practice. Supporting a highly questionable tradition of many of his fellow Italo stars, Alberto Carpani often records his voice under other than Albert one names. For example, the easily recognized voice of "Big Alberto" can be heard in the following titles: Jock Hattle - Crazy Family (1983), Malcolm and the Bad Girls - Shoot Me (1983), Humphrey - Devil Love (Passion in the Dark) (1984), The Managers - one Race (1984), Clock on Five - Mayerling (1984), Clock on Five = Take It (1985), Clock on Five - Secret Life (1986), Paul Sharada - Vola (1987), G.T.M. one - Rappin' Reggae Night (1987), Schiffer - Get It Right (1988) and others. He had a contract with the Discomagic studio, where he served as a studio vocalist, recording his voice for different projects of the abovementioned label.
The hero of our narration stands in the ranks of still active Italo disco stars. He performs at Italodisco parties, specially organized bystyle fans, and even releases new singles of the modern Italodance style. For instance, in 2000 at a label, curiously named DB one Records, the artist issues the singles "Sing a Song" (with the participation of R. Turatti) and "Ring the Bell" under the name of A.C. one (that is,Alberto Carpani one). In the same year, under the name "Artepal" the artist records the single "Don't Give Up". and in 2002 - "Music", underthe legendary name of Albert one. The material for the latest single was written with a definite influence of Eiffel-65, a modern Italodance project. 2003 by Vovchik, specially for Best of Italo Disco. |
